I have long been inspired by the beautiful landscape of my home in West Dorset.   Living in a small village set beneath the ancient Hill Fort of Eggardon my work often portrays this hidden landscape of almost vertical hills and tangled woodland.

I particularly like to walk in the winter and will often return to a valley where  natural springs have carved a watery path or to an ancient group of apple trees clinging to the side of a terraced hill.   Essentially semi-abstract I combine stored images and simple line sketches suggesting the ever changing colours and rawness of the landscape, these preliminary sketches are then developed into paintings.
